After a somewhat busy and adventurous summer break Granny Greens is looking forward to settling down for some serious crafting as autumn approaches. As per usual we have avoided meeting in the city centre over the festival period, however following one last hurrah (next meet up is at the Hawes Inn at South Queensferry on the 12th September) we will be back to our usual Monday night meet-ups 6-8pm at Akva (http://www.bodabar.com/akva/) from 19th September.
The summer has seen meet-ups at the Edinburgh Book Festival, at Portabello and Penicuik. A brunch/crafternoon recently saw 13 bags sewn for ‘Beads of Courage’ (http://www.beadsofcourage.org/) which will be going to the children’s ward at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Despite the production line much cake and yummies were consumed!
The other ‘new hobby’ occupying many Granny Greeners of late is the closing down sale of the haberdashery department at Jenners. Its very sad that it is going and the very helpful and knowledgeable staff will be missed. Granny Greeners have been acquiring bargains left right and centre – threads, yarns and needles. Should we ever lose Mary its possible we’ll now find her under a neon yarn avalanche!
If you can make it to South Queensferry on the 12th we’d love to see you there. If not, see you at Akva on the 19th. New and old members welcome!
