Summer Programme Update!
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine and managing to get some crafting in during our little two week break. Normal Monday night meet-ups will resume on Monday 9th May at Fredericks Coffee House, Frederick Street, 6-8.30pm as usual.
Big Meal Out
In the meantime, however, we have a couple of extra meet-ups planned for next week – Granny Green’s Big Night Out is having an even BIGGER Night Out (with alcohol, curry, a later start and minus the craft – unless you don’t mind it getting messy!) on Wednesday 4th May, at Mother India’s Cafe on Infirmary Street, at 8.30pm. Come along and feel free to bring friends or partners – please let us know though, either by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or sending us a message on Twitter @greensnightout, if you want to come and who you’re bringing so that we can confirm the booking/numbers with the restaurant.
Voluntary Arts Week
On Saturday May 7th, Granny Green’s Big Night Out will be taking part in the Voluntary Arts Week Celebration Event, in Festival Square (off Lothian Road) between 11am and 4.30pm. The week is celebrating the wide range of arts and crafts activity in Scotland and aiming to get even more people involved. There will be a performance stage in the square and a Craft Tent, where we’ll have a stall – and maybe even a sofa! No matter what your craft – we need you! We’ll be holding a special one-off Saturday Granny Green’s with mini-workshops plus our usual chat and banter – come and join us just for a chat and some craft, or get more involved and share your skills with others on the day. We’re still finalising what we’ll be doing, but please email or tweet us if you have some spare time on Saturday and fancy getting involved.
Excitingly, we also have our summer programme ready to announce!
As normal, every Monday at Fredericks anyone is welcome to drop in from 6pm onwards with whatever craft projects you want to bring along, or just to have a chat, share ideas and catch up. We also have a schedule of different groups and workshops which will take place each week which you are free to join in with – or not! Granny Green’s Big Night Out is free, but we recommend
Monday 9th – Knitting surgery – An opportunity for knitters of all levels of experience to share knowledge and skills. Anyone willing to teach the absolute beginners amongst us, your help would be greatly appreciated!
Monday 16th – Book Group – The Life of Pi by Yann Martel – Want to join in but don’t have the book? No problem! We’ve borrowed a number of The Life of Pi from the library for the group, so get in touch with us if you would like to borrow one (email@example.com) and we’ll lend you your copy either at the next Granny Green’s, Mother India’s or the Voluntary Arts Week event, depending on when we’ll see you next!
Monday 23rd – Social Media Surgery – We’ll be chatting about how to make the most of Twitter, Facebook, etc especially in relation to promoting your craft businesses.
Monday 30th – Photography Group – Camera Wander – Bring your camera along to Fredericks from 6pm onwards – at around 6.45pm we’ll all go for a short photography wander before heading back to join the rest of the group and, via the wonder of laptops, memory cards and cables, compare our different approaches to taking photos. No matter whether you’re digital or analogue, DSLR or phonecam, come along and join in. This isn’t about who has the priciest equipment, it’s just about finding different ways of seeing what’s around us.
Monday 6th – Film Group – Granny Green’s Big Night Out starts at 6pm as usual, and we’ll be discussing the Hitchcock classic, Rear Window, from 7pm onwards.
