Coming up at the Big Night Out
We’re coming into the last few weeks of Granny Green’s Big Night Out for 2010, but we’ll be saying goodbye to the year in style! If you haven’t made it to a Monday event yet, feel free to come along – we’re on between 6-9pm at The LOT, 4-6 Grassmarket, Edinburgh, EH1 2JU. Just drop in and say hello – there’s no charge and no need to book your place in advance!
Here’s what’s coming up for the rest of the year – assuming we’re not all snowed in!
Monday 29th November 2010 – Book Group and Craft
This week we’ll be discussing the latest pick from the Granny Green’s Book Club, One Day by David Nicholls. If you like to plan ahead, or just want something to escape into over Christmas, our next book is Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder. Don’t let the slightly deep subtitle, “A novel about the histroy of philosophy” put you off – it’s also a really good read (or is it? Come along in January and tell us what you think!)
We’ll also be running our craft drop-in between 6 – 9pm. Bring along a crafty project, idea, or just yourself for crafty and creative chat!
Monday 6th December 2010 – Film Group and Craft
Top billing for film week is Random Harvest, in which “an amnesiac World War I vet falls in love with a music hall star, only to suffer an accident which restores his original memories but erases his post-War life.” If you don’t happen to own this1942 classic that no-one’s ever heard of (okay, possibly just me), and do enjoy watching movies in ten minute bursts, You Tube might be your friend – just don’t tell anyone I told you that!
Craft drop-in will also be running between 6-9pm!
Monday 13th December 2010 – Christmas Crafty
Finally, we’re rounding off the Granny Green’s year with a Christmas Crafty (a party with crafts. You mock me now, but it’ll be what all the kids are saying next year!) We’ll have a few Christmassy mini-workshops running plus general Christmas cheer (a.k.a. food!) Anyone interested in participating in a hand-made secret santa should register their names with Sarah either by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday 5th December or at Granny Green’s on Monday and we’ll get organising that!
(Note: one proposed workshop may have a small fee – around £4 – if it runs, but there will be flashing Christmas tree ornaments and solder involved…! Let us know if you’re interested!)
Even if you’re not a crafter – come along and join us anyway for some festive fun!
Monday 13th December is our last Granny Green’s of 2010, but we’ll be back on Monday 17th January 2011! Thank you so much for all of your support in 2010, we genuinely appreciate it (and you!) and look forward to seeing you in 2011!
